Following the Scottish Government announcement on Saturday which placed mainland Scotland into Level 4 effective as of the 26th December, Scottish Athletics (SA) have reviewed their Covid-19 Framework to keep all athletes and coaches safe. You will find the SA framework and guidance here.In line with this, NHH are, with immediate effect suspending all formal squad sessions. This decision has been taken as under the SA Level 4 guidelines we do not have training spaces which allow us to comply with a maximum formal squad size of 8 runners training 2m apart running side by side and 5m apart if running in single file. We are also very aware of the current level of anxiety within the community and want to be mindful of this in our decision. This has been a difficult decision as the Committee are aware how much our members benefit from the physical and social aspect of joining others for training. The current guidelines allow solo training only to take place out with squad sessions. The stance we have taken will therefore allow runners to default to the Scottish Government guidelines around meeting with one other household outside.
To this end we are encouraging runners to use this period to either take a much needed training holiday, or work on building your aerobic base (that’s miles with a minimal amount of quality rep sessions). If you want to add some rep work, please look back on our fb page for suggested sessions which were loaded from the start of lockdown. So in summary:*There will be no formal squads sessions*Runners can either train alone or arrange to meet with one other household* Remember to maintain your distance from other pavement usersThe Committee will review our current situation on the 6th January and will provide an update to members after this. In the meantime please train within the Scottish Government guidelines. If you have any concerns or comments please e-mail us. Please stay safe.NHH Committee
