03/10/10 - Loch Ness Marathon & 10K

Only one NHH member - Sandy Christie - took part in this years marathon event. Sandy only entered the event on its closing date - but given the long distance runs he had covered during the year this was not a serious handicap. Sandy finished in a time of 3 hours 17 minutes and 33 seconds, a very respectable 163rd position. Also taking part was Alan Cook - now running for Tain Runners - who completed his first marathon in 4 hours and 27 minutes.

In the 10K event associate NHH member Andrew Douglas, running for his first club Inverclyde Athletic Club, finished in 2nd place overall in a time of 30 minutes and 23 seconds. Andrew got a well deserved big cheer from all the NHH members at the presentation ceremony.

Moving on, to those of us who aspired to slightly more mundane times there was at least eighteen NHH members taking part:

  • 19. Kevin Cormack
  • 28. Ewan Mackay
  • 66. Peter Fenwick
  • 100. Hamper Macleod
  • 191. Alistair Geddes
  • 199. John Douglas
  • 215. Joan Hendry
  • 334. Graeme Morgan
  • 344. Joanna Groves
  • 590. Ewan Mackenzie
  • 628. Iola Wilson
  • 731. Catherine Murray
  • 790. Jenny Harness
  • 1032. Julie Morgan
  • 1141. Sandra Mackenzie
  • 1328. Kathy Douglas
  • 1679. Sarah Dunnett
  • 1680, Graeme Dunnett

Sorry if I missed you - I just searched for everyone who had NHH as their club - but just drop me an email and I will give you a well deserved mention.

Well done to everyone that took part. I know from speaking to some of you that there were several PB's achieved.

It was also good that the sun decided to come out as most of us were finishing - unfortunately the finishing area was pretty much like a bog by this time.

The final mention goes to John Douglas who just missed out in an age group prize - next year start a bit closer to Andrew!
