11/09/10 - Golspie 10K Run

After a break of a year, this event was back at its traditional time of the season, in September. For the first year the event was being organsied by East Sutherland Athletics Club.

A large contingent of eighteen NHH runners decended on a somewhat wet Golspie on a Saturday afternoon. They were to leave mainly very satisfied with their afternoon's endevours, with Kevin Cormack winning the event in a PB time of 35:46. Also well placed were Ewen Mackay and David Spencer who finished in 4th and 7th places respectively. David also picked up the prize for first male veteran. Sharon McCaffery and Martine Hughes finished as 5th and 6th place in the women's race, in what was a strong field headed By Melissa Whyte who finished second overall. They both picked up age group prizes. Contrary to what was stated at the prize giving the NHH mens team pipped Highland Hill Runners the the mens team trophy - which is now safely in Caithness. This was some recompence for getting beat at Beinn Ratha Hill Race.
