Report 8 - Week beginning 01/03/10

Have you stuck to the training programme? If not any reasons why?

No I'm not following the programme as I'm running a lot further and longer than what is recommended in the training plan.

Have you done more or less than expected? Explain.

I had 4 runs this week:

  • Monday - 5.3 miles
  • Wednesday -5.7 miles
  • Friday - 3.7 miles
  • Sunday - 5.7 miles

How did you feel during training this week? What were the highs and lows?

I started of feeling great this week, my Mon run was good I ran 5.3 miles and felt fab after. Wed my run was even better as I ran 5.7 miles, then my run on Fri was rubbish as I only managed 3.7 miles as my shins were quite sore. My run on Sun wasn't too bad as shins weren't as sore, so I'll have to say Fri was a low for me.

Are you seeing improvements; in speed, distance, breathing?

Definitely a huge difference in all three, but some days I do still struggle with my breathing.

Where are you walking/running; gym, beach, roads, forests?

Still pounding the pavements and tackling the hills.

Are you training alone/with someone else/mixture? How does this affect your training?

Training alone this week. When training alone I find I don't push myself enough as I would if I was training with someone.

Any injuries?

I wouldn't say I have an injury but my shins have been a wee bit painful.

Are you feeling any benefits away from training as a result of the training; health, toning up, more energetic?

This week I have felt a wee bit lethargic and very tired, in fact I have been fallen asleep during the day which is something I never normally do?????

Are you doing any other forms of exercise; swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates?

Still going to the gym, I'm doing 20 mins crosstrainer,10 mins exercise bike and 10 mins rowing machine, also some upper body strengthening as well.

I haven't been swimming this week but I need to get my butt in gear and get back.

Any other observations?

I can't believe we are starting week 9 of training, where has the time gone. I have to say I have enjoyed every minute of it and so glad I signed up for the Mey 10k, I'd never have thought that I would get so hooked on running, roll on the next 8 wks.......
