Report 17 - Week beginning 03/05/10
Have you stuck to the training programme? If not any reasons why?
Yes and no, I've altered it a little bit.
Have you done more or less than expected? Explain.
Mon - 2 mile easy, 2 miles steady, 1 mile cool down.
Tues - gym - 20mins crosstrainer, 10mins rowing. Machine and some upperbody exercises.
Wed - 2 mile easy, 2 miles steady, 1 mile harder and half a mile cool down.
Thurs - gym,15 mins crosstrainer,10 mins rowing machine,10 mins treadmill and upperbody workout.
Fri - 1.5 mile easy, 2 miles steady, 2 mile cool down.
How did you feel during training this week? What were the highs and lows?
Highs - felt good this week, although shins are a little bit achy.
HighsLows - none really just need to take it easy this week to relax the shins.
Are you seeing improvements; in speed, distance, breathing?
Yes my speed has improved this week and my breathing has been better as well, so fingers crossed it stays that way.
Where are you walking/running; gym, beach, roads, forests?
Still on the roads, although I had one run this week on rough terrain.
Are you training alone/with someone else/mixture? How does this affect your training?
Trained by myself again this week which I didn't mind as I wasn't really pushing myself that hard.
Any injuries?
Achy shins. They were a little bit sore to touch, they felt a bit like I had bad bruising down the shin bone, but I've been sitting with plenty of ice on them.
Are you feeling any benefits away from training as a result of the training; health, toning up, more energetic?
Yes, the same as I stated in my last blog, I'm definitely more toned.
My health has really improved and I most certainly have more energy. So yes I'm definitely feeling the benefits away from training.
Are you doing any other forms of exercise; swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates?
I'm going to the gym and also out walking.
Any other observations?
OH MY GOD!!!!!! I cant believe it's the 10k on Sunday, I am so looking forward to it but at the same time I'm very apprehensive as well.
I think I will take it easy this week to hopefully prevent the shins from getting any worse, if I get bad shin splints after I've done the 10k I'm not bothered as I know I can have a few weeks off running to rest them.
I'm also looking forward to meeting up with the rest of the featured runners again.
I'm hoping my family and friends will be at the finish line with a nice chilled bottle of Asti for me, ha ha!!!!
