Report 16 - Week beginning 29/04/10
Have you stuck to the training programme? If not any reasons why?
Yes I have.
Have you done more or less than expected? Explain.
MON -1 mile easy, 2 miles steady, 1 mile cool down.
TUES - gym - 20mins crosstrainer, 10mins rowing machine.
WED - 1 mile easy, 2 miles steady, 1 mile harder, half a mile cool down.
THUR - gym - 15mins crosstrainer, 10 mins rowing machine, 20mins treadmill, upperbody workout.
FRI - 1 mile easy ,2 miles steady, 1 mile cool down.
How did you feel during training this week? What were the highs and lows?
HIGHS - felt good at the start of the week, had some good runs, breathing was a lot better than last week.
LOWS - I changed the way I run on Fri and by god have I paid the price, my calf muscles have been so so sore even walking has been hard, but once I'm on the go for a while they seem to be a bit better, so its lots of icing for me.
Are you seeing improvements; in speed, distance, breathing?
Yes my speed has improved this week and my breathing has been better as well, so fingers crossed it stays that way.
Where are you walking/running; gym, beach, roads, forests?
Still on the roads, I haven't been doing many hills so god knows how I'll fair on the hills at the 10k, guess I'll just have to wait and see.
Are you training alone/with someone else/mixture? How does this affect your training?
Trained by myself this week and with out my iPod. As stated previously I do run better when I have a running partner but I suppose I can't rely on one the whole time so I do try to push myself a bit harder when I'm on my own.
Any injuries?
MMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Really sore calf muscles but that's my own doing as I tried to change the way I run !!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you feeling any benefits away from training as a result of the training; health, toning up, more energetic?
Yes, the same as I stated in my last blog.
I'm definitely more toned. My health has really improved and I most certainly have more energy. So yes I'm definitely feeling the benefits away from training.
Are you doing any other forms of exercise; swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates?
I'm going to the gym and also out walking.
Any other observations?
Well only 2 weeks to go to the Mey 10k and I have to say 5 months ago I couldn't run the length of myself and now I'm running further than I ever thought I could. Yes I've had my ups and downs but I'm glad that I signed up for the Mey 10k as its got me of the couch and has got me outside and hopefully improved my health and definitely improved my fitness, I just hope that I have inspired my members to get active as I know a few of them have been following my blog.
All I can say to them is if I can do it then anyone can !!!!
