Report 14 - Week beginning 12/04/10
Have you stuck to the training programme? If not any reasons why?
Yes and no.
I'm trying to be careful as I don't want to aggravate the shins to much as it's only 4 weeks to the run.
Have you done more or less than expected? Explain.
MON - 2.9 miles, an easy run with some sprints added in.
WED - 3.2 miles,1 mile easy, 1 mile steady and 1.2 miles easy and cool down.
THURS - walk 3 miles.
FRI - first thing a walk 3 miles, then a 2.9 mile run in the evening this was an easy run as shins felt a wee bit achy.
My overall running this week is 9 miles.
How did you feel during training this week? What were the highs and lows?
Felt good this week.
LOWS - none.
HIGHS - happy my shins are holding out.
Are you seeing improvements; in speed, distance, breathing?
I think my sprinting is improving.
Where are you walking/running; gym, beach, roads, forests?
Running on the roads around Thurso, although next week I'm going out to Mey to run the route to see just how hard its going to be, then at least ill know whether to book an ambulance or not, ha ha.
Are you training alone/with someone else/mixture? How does this affect your training?
Walking with kids and by myself, Running has been by myself but hubby home on Thursday so no doubt he'll push me pretty hard.
Any injuries?
No, just a slight ache in my shins, not what I would call an injury.
Are you feeling any benefits away from training as a result of the training; health, toning up, more energetic?
Yes I feel my health is really improving, definitely more energy and my legs and butt are fairly toning up.
Are you doing any other forms of exercise; swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates?
I have done a lot of walking this week, plus I'm stripping the bathroom, and I've been digging up the garden and building a wall, does that class as exercise!!!!!!
Any other observations?
I cant believe its only 4 weeks till the 10k, am I excited or am I nervous!!!!! I'd say both but I'm gonna give it the best shot I possible can and if I get shin splints after the race I don't care as long as they stay away till then.
