Report 11 - Week beginning 22/03/10

Have you stuck to the training programme? If not any reasons why?

No not this week as I only had my first run on Wednesday, due to having a weeks rest due to shin splints.

Have you done more or less than expected? Explain.

Not done as much as I would like to, but thought I'd run myself in gently this week. Wednesday was my first run so had a easy run, only did a mile and a half just so I could see how my shins felt and I'm glad to say they felt ok.

Thursday ran for 2 and half miles and I started adding in some sprints, I was running for 2 lampposts and then sprinting to the 3rd lamppost, again my shins were good.

Friday I just had to go a run as I had loads of energy so hubby and I set of, again adding in some sprints and I have to admit there was a couple of times when I was saying to hubby I want to walk for a minute and he wouldn't let me, he pushed me really hard on Friday and I have to say I felt better for it. I have learnt how to control my breathing and I think that made a big difference to my run on Friday, only ran 4 and a half but didn't want to push it to far especially as I ran Wednesday and Thursday.

How did you feel during training this week? What were the highs and lows?

I felt great as I'd not ran since last Wednesday.

HIGHS - getting back out running and my shins not being sore, I have to admit by Friday I did feel really good. I thinks its because I finally found how to control my breathing better (ha its only taken me 11 weeks). I've had too many lows and all I want now are HIGHS,HIGHS,HIGHS.

LOWS - mmm let me think?? Absolutely none, zero.

Are you seeing improvements; in speed, distance, breathing?

This week I’d have to say I’ve seen a huge improvement in my breathing.

Where are you walking/running; gym, beach, roads, forests?

Still on the roads although Thursday and Friday we did some running on some quite rough terrain.

Are you training alone/with someone else/mixture? How does this affect your training?

My hubby was running with me this week and it was great having him there, he really pushed me on this week.

Mmmm think I might have to advertise for a running partner ha ha, as hubby goes away this week so I'll be running by my self again.

Any injuries?

No!!!!!!

Are you feeling any benefits away from training as a result of the training; health, toning up, more energetic?

This week I have felt more energetic.

Are you doing any other forms of exercise; swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates?

I have been doing some walking this week, and I'm going back swimming this week as I have really missed it.

Any other observations?

I can't believe the amount of support I have been getting from people, they have been so encouraging, and telling me to keep my chin up and not to let my injuries get to me.
