Report 7 - Week beginning 22/02/10

Have you stuck to the training programme? If not any reasons why?

No. I've continued with my own programme and am aiming for distance rather than time. Still seems to work better for me and keeps me more motivated. Telling myself I've just run 3 miles seems to make me happier and more confident than knowing I've run for 30 minutes.

Have you done more or less than expected? Explain.

More. When I started this I honestly did not believe that I could ever run 3 miles without stopping and not feel dead at the end of it!

How did you feel during training this week? What were the highs and lows?

Brilliant again. It was hard to get myself out there sometimes but once I was running I knew the effort was worth it.

Highs:- Running, simple as that!

Lows:- None, Nada, Nothing.

Are you seeing improvements; in speed, distance, breathing?

Distance and breathing definitely. All my runs include hills or inclines so I've had to learn pretty quickly when to speed up and when to conserve energy. I also learnt the hard way that I cannot run uphill at my flat pace - very painfull!

Where are you walking/running; gym, beach, roads, forests?

Mainly roads with plenty of hills / inclines plus I even ran in the hail and wind. I also had to do one session on the dreadmill this week due to the snow.

Are you training alone/with someone else/mixture? How does this affect your training?

Alone and love it! I don't even need to listen to music anymore to while away the time. The only time I find running boring is when I have to use the dreadmill.

Any injuries?

Nothing new just a side shin niggle from last week.

Are you feeling any benefits away from training as a result of the training; health, toning up, more energetic?

More energy definitely. Toning of legs to a degree but I'm guessing the Dairy Milk addiction has scuppered any weight loss plans I had. Oopsie!

Are you doing any other forms of exercise; swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates?

I have only run 3 times this week and done nothing else as I have been trying to rest the shin niggle I had. Rest seems to have worked though and I found todays 3 miler fine. I think the camber on the road is what was causing it as it was only my left shin that hurt. Changing road sides seems to have helped.

Any other observations?

I'm more and more aware that I need to do something serious about weight loss. It seems stupid to do all this exercise and continue to have the appearance of a Weeble, but this Weeble has a serious choccie addiction and it's hard to give it up my 'one thing'. lol.
