Report 2 - Week beginning 18/01/10
Have you stuck to the training programme? If not any reasons why?
Yes.
Have you done more or less than expected? Explain.
More. I managed to increase my speed slightly on the treadmill at the end of the week and also increased the amount of km on the bike.
How did you feel during training this week? What were the highs and lows?
I'm still motivated and love training when I'm actually doing it, but I do have a can't be bothered attitude sometimes. I've forced myself out each time and have not missed any training sessions and I'm determined to keep it that way.
Highs:- Being able to run for the specified amount of time. Yay!
Lows:- Wanting to be able to run 10k Now and can't.
Are you seeing improvements; in speed, distance, breathing?
Slight improvements in speed, breathing and distance although it still seems a million miles away from 10k ability.
Where are you walking/running; gym, beach, roads, forests?
Still on the treadmill as not confident enough to batter myself in public just yet.
Are you training alone/with someone else/mixture? How does this affect your training?
Alone. Still prefer to train alone as I can concentrate and enjoy it more but I will take my husband or kids along when I start to train outside for the first few times, after that it will be just me and the dog.
Any injuries?
Not yet but I'm sure I'll get some niggles at some point.
Are you feeling any benefits away from training as a result of the training; health, toning up, more energetic?
Sleeping better is still a massive bonus for me and I definitely have more energy although I seem to get the energy burst from noon onwards - I'm not a morning person.
I can see a toning of my legs but not much else. Once I start a slimming class I'll have a better idea of any improvements.
Are you doing any other forms of exercise; swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates?
Still Cycling, Pilates and dog walking.
Any other observations?
I need to get the hang of drinking from a bottle whilst running. It's easy when walking but I'm finding it a bit tricky to do it while running without choking and/or falling all over the place like a weeble.
I need to force myself outside regardless of how I feel about it, I'm in danger of becoming too comfortable on the treadmill.
