Report 17 - Week beginning 03/05/10
Have you stuck to the training programme? If not any reasons why?
Not religiously. I tend to do what I fancy doing and not what is in place on the training programme. My main aim has been to make sure I can complete the mileage I need to and to practice some speed work plus try to work out my speed so that I'm not too knackered to finish strongly at a decent pace instead of a crawl.
Have you done more or less than expected? Explain.
Less this week as I've only run a couple of times. Things just seemed to keep getting in the way. I'll make sure I do what's needed in this last week though.
How did you feel during training this week? What were the highs and lows?
No highs or lows really. I felt good when I was running but I wouldn't say I achieved anything that made me feel "high", on the other hand my lack of running this week hasn't made me feel "low" either. It's all good!
Are you seeing improvements; in speed, distance, breathing?
Not this week as I've not run as often as I would have liked. I am more aware of my breathing though and am trying to learn to concentrate on it in order to zone out when running.
Where are you walking/running; gym, beach, roads, forests?
Mainly roads. I've done plenty of hills over the weeks but I haven't really done any grass running as my ankles don't seem to like it.
Are you training alone/with someone else/mixture? How does this affect your training?
Alone. I'm even trying to get back to running without music as I can't use it at Mey. I'll always prefer to run alone but I think a running partner would probably help my mental attitude.
Any injuries?
Slight calf cramps but that's from not stretching properly. My bad!
Are you feeling any benefits away from training as a result of the training; health, toning up, more energetic?
I do feel fitter despite my weight loss coming to a halt and that's despite following a healthy eating plan religiously . There's a lifting of a certain derriere too. Lol. I think most benefit though has been to my confidence in my abilities.
Are you doing any other forms of exercise; swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates?
Loads of outside work plus belly dancing.
Any other observations?
Looking forward to next week. I've decided not to set myself a time but just aim on getting round without stopping instead. I recite to myself regularly 'I must not compete' lol. I'm going to find it difficult not to start off too fast but I know I'll suffer if I do.
