Report 16 - Week beginning 29/04/10

Have you stuck to the training programme? If not any reasons why?

Not really. I've been pretty much doing my own thing and trying to include plenty of speedwork and hills in my runs.

Mon= 4m. Wed= 5m. Fri= 2m & Sun=5m

Have you done more or less than expected? Explain.

I've actually been quite chuffed with how far I've been running and how comfortable I've felt doing it.

How did you feel during training this week? What were the highs and lows?

Felt great and pretty confident on all runs.

Highs: Every run really and feeling as though I can go further after each run and finishing quite strongly - not knackered.

Lows: none, how cool is that!

Are you seeing improvements; in speed, distance, breathing?

Definite improvements in distance as long as I keep a check on my mental attitude. I try to zone out when I'm running so that I don't talk myself into walking. I seem to have my breathing under control too.

Where are you walking/running; gym, beach, roads, forests?

Outside, although 2 runs this week were on the dreadmill. I changed my running routes though as the same track was getting soooo boring.

Are you training alone/with someone else/mixture? How does this affect your training?

Alone mainly but hubby does follow along in the car if I'm running on deserted roads.

Having said that, listening to the Rocky theme tune and Chariots of Fire does help push me that bit more. Lol.

Any injuries?

Nope.

Are you feeling any benefits away from training as a result of the training; health, toning up, more energetic?

I finally have evidence via the scales of weight loss. Yay! Plus I've not even had to give up Dairy Milk to do it - I just can't have it every day unfortunately.

My legs are definitely toning up too plus I have more confidence in my abilities to do something I previously thought impossible.

Are you doing any other forms of exercise; swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates?

Running, working outside and Bellydancing is it at the moment.

Cycling has took a back seat but once Mey is over it will be the main exercise for me. I'll still be running though as I have other 10k's booked.

Any other observations?

The dreadmill has surprisingly been my friend this week. I really enjoyed my 2 runs on it because it enabled me to really push myself and get a more accurate picture of where I'm at both physically and mentally.

2 weeks till Mey - can't wait. Whoop whoop!
