Report 12 - Week beginning 29/03/10

Have you stuck to the training programme? If not any reasons why?

I've tried to and I'm managing distances fine but I'm finding the sprints or faster runs difficult to maintain. I'll figure out the right paces soon enough though.

Have you done more or less than expected? Explain.

Pretty much what I expected really although I would have liked to have made 4 runs this week but only managed 3.

How did you feel during training this week? What were the highs and lows?

Highs: Every time I manage to talk myself out of walking and keep running.

Lows: Not being able to pick the pace up very easily and the stiffness I still get during the first 10 mins or so.

Are you seeing improvements; in speed, distance, breathing?

Improvement seems to come and go and then come back again. At first I found picking up pace easy but now I've lost it. I'm guessing mental attitude has a lot to do with it.

Where are you walking/running; gym, beach, roads, forests?

Roads and dreadmill. I'm definitely having a change of scenery this week though as the same road is getting boring.

Are you training alone/with someone else/mixture? How does this affect your training?

This week I've run with Lady Gaga, Fergie, Rihanna and even Frank Sinatra!

Any injuries?

Nope.

Are you feeling any benefits away from training as a result of the training; health, toning up, more energetic?

No weight loss. I stay the same weight for 5 years then as soon as I start dieting I put on 3 pound! Go figure!!

I am definitely fitter though and have more energy. I'm still sleeping better on run days and the IBS seems to be a thing of the past.

Are you doing any other forms of exercise; swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates?

Just running at the moment.

Any other observations?

Only 6 weeks left to the Castle of Mey and I can't wait. I'm getting more and more confident about being able to complete it without the use of a stretcher and with some dignity intact.
