Report 1 - Week beginning 04/01/10

Have you stuck to the training programme? If not any reasons why?

Religiously. It's easy to follow in the first week, let's see how cocky I am come week 5 or 6.

Have you done more or less than expected? Explain.

I started the programme a week early as I couldn't wait to get started and I've also been doing other forms of exercise too.

How did you feel during training this week? What were the highs and lows?

I felt great as long as I kept myself motivated. It's easy to slip into a state of mind where you put training off till tomorrow but I'm determined not to let that happen - If I do that once I'll end up doing it a lot.

The highs were seeing an improvement in fitness so quickly - it's evident after just 3 training sessions. No lows - yet!

Are you seeing improvements; in speed, distance, breathing?

Not so much in speed but definitely in distance.

I'm sure the ability to increase speed comes at some point but I've no idea when that will be.

Where are you walking/running; gym, beach, roads, forests?

This first week has just been on my treadmill as I don't feel confident about going outside alone just yet. My hubby has offered to come with me though so I should soon be in the forests and on the roads.

Are you training alone/with someone else/mixture? How does this affect your training?

Alone. Mainly because I've just been in my gym, once I'm outside hubby and kids will all join in. I've actually enjoyed being alone. I have no one else to think about or feel the need to keep up with, and as I'm quite motivated at the moment it's no problem at all.

Any injuries?

Nope just a slight ache of Calf muscles.

Are you feeling any benefits away from training as a result of the training; health, toning up, more energetic?

The nights I exercise I've found I actually seem to get a deeper sleep which is always a bonus for me as my Narcolepsy usually prevents this.

Definitely feel more energetic and seemingly happier and clearer minded.

Haven't noticed any toning yet but then again it's early days and only week 1.

Are you doing any other forms of exercise; swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates?

Alongside the running I'm cycling and doing Pilates. I'm going to introduce my WII fitness as well and may brave the swimming pool.

I know I'm capable of over doing things though so I have to be careful that I don't burn out or injure myself.

Any other observations?

Feeling really motivated and actually looking forward to each session.

I need to get my ass in gear though and join a slimming club as I'm sure running will be even easier if I lose some bulk. I've set myself a date of 26/01/10 to join the Wick Scottish Slimmers - there I've said it, now I have to do it.
