Report 6 - Week beginning 15/02/10
Have you stuck to the training programme? If not any reasons why?
No still on my own programme doing 3 runs a week.
Have you done more or less than expected? Explain.
Still doing more with again managing to increase my distance on my longer weekend run.
How did you feel during training this week? What were the highs and lows?
No lows but the high was my Saturday morning run.
Are you seeing improvements; in speed, distance, breathing?
Distance yes, speed ever so minimal and most of the time breathing is fine but there are periods when I try and increase my pace when I struggle with it.
Where are you walking/running; gym, beach, roads, forests?
This week I ran 3 times. On Tuesday I was back in the gym due to the weather I did approx 4 miles but I tried alternating my speed in 90 second intervals to hopefully improve my speed. On Thursday I ran in Halkirk and again I did 4 miles I struggled in bits mainly due to me being unable to regulate my pace when running on my own I set off too quickly every time probably down to being over enthusiastic. On Saturday morning I ran in Halkirk with Sandra it was just after 8 in the morning when we started there was a fresh fall of snow it was minus 3 the sun was rising and it could only be described as a beautiful morning. With Sandra keeping a good steady pace we ran round Braal, round the river twice through the village and home which totalled just over 7 miles, I really enjoyed this run and at no stage did I struggle.
Are you training alone/with someone else/mixture? How does this affect your training?
As I have already said ran alone twice and once with the 'Taskmaster'.
Any injuries?
Still good - no injuries
Are you feeling any benefits away from training as a result of the training; health, toning up, more energetic?
Feeling good and after 6 weeks of training I have lost the equivalent weight of 7 bags of sugar and this must be helping me. Imagine putting 7 bags of sugar in your backpack and running with it on!
Are you doing any other forms of exercise; swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates?
Nothing this week only running.
Any other observations?
Enjoyment level on Saturday morning reached a new peak and from here continuing to put in the miles to hopefully increase my fitness levels.
