Report 5 - Week beginning 08/02/10

Have you stuck to the training programme? If not any reasons why?

I have now pretty much got my own programme with 2 runs during the week and a longer run at the weekend.

Have you done more or less than expected? Explain.

Way ahead of where I hoped to be.

How did you feel during training this week? What were the highs and lows?

Felt good although I struggled a bit on my Tuesday run due to me trying to increase my pace. The high was my Thursday run in Inverness it was a lovely evening and I felt good.

Are you seeing improvements; in speed, distance, breathing?

Yes feeling improvements in all areas but need to work on increasing my pace.

Where are you walking/running; gym, beach, roads, forests?

Did 4 runs this week. First run in Halkirk on Tuesday for about 3.5 miles. Ran in Inverness on Thursday early evening for 4.5 miles up the Ness bank and back into the town, was a lovely evening and I really enjoyed it. Ran on Saturday morning again in Inverness for 3 miles this was not part of the training plan but after a bit of a heavy night on Friday my conscience sent me out before breakfast to clear my head! Ran on Sunday morning up in Glenn Affric for 6 miles, this was the furthest I have managed and it was more undulating than what I have been used to and although I found it difficult in bits I was fair please at the end and I slept like a log on Sunday night.

Are you training alone/with someone else/mixture? How does this affect your training?

Ran alone in Halkirk but the other 3 runs this week was with Sandra.

Any injuries?

Still good - no injuries.

Are you feeling any benefits away from training as a result of the training; health, toning up, more energetic?

I didn't feel all that well at the start of last week but I continued training and I think I due to my overall fitness and health improving I managed to shake it off.

Are you doing any other forms of exercise; swimming, cycling, yoga, pilates?

Played squash once last week.

Any other observations?

Now I have managed to get my distance to 6 miles I now want to try and improve my speed and cope better with hills. The enjoyment level increases slightly each week.
