The Team at Run 4 It are proud to once again support this event and more importantly support you, it’s runners, in any which way we can. As a start, we have included a 15% discount voucher (click here) to assist you buying your running shoes and apparel. You can redeem this in any of our 6 shops, or online at www.run4it.com using the discount code.
Run 4 It in Inverness is your nearest specialist running shop and we would like to invite you to come and visit the Team in store where we can carry out your free gait analysis session. Alternatively you can call us on (01463) 259849 or email us on Inverness@run4it.com for advice on training, injury prevention, nutrition & hydration advice and sampling, podiatry advice, etc. The shop is open 7 days a week and we are also happy to offer a next day postage service or collect from store, for any items you require urgently.
We also plan to come to Caithness on Wednesday 4th April (Wick) and Thursday 5th April (Thurso) to carry out individual gait analysis sessions. These two sessions will be hosted at the local Swimming Pools. They are normally very busy so to avoid disappointment, book your appointment early by telephoning us on (01463) 259849.
During a gait analysis session we will start by asking you a few questions in order to gain a good history of your running – you may be a beginner; perhaps you are returning to running after a break; or you may have many years experience of running. Gaining this information is vital to the successful outcome of the gait analysis procedure and subsequently fitting you with the correct running shoe.
We will ask some simple questions which include: How long have you been running? How far do you go? How long do you run for? What terrain do you run on? We will also ask questions relating to your health & wellbeing which include: Do you suffer from any aches and pains as you run? Do you suffer any pain in the knee, hip or lower back? Do you suffer from blisters and if so, where?
We may also ask questions relating to your existing footwear: Have you been happy with the shoes you currently train in? And if not, why not? Have you noticed any particular wear on the outsole? We may also ask where you got them from and were you assessed before you were fitted for them.
We will then observe you walking barefoot to gain an understanding of your individual biomechanics and gait cycle. We will observe the structure of your foot, taking into account the height of the arch and whether there is excessive flattening of the arch of the foot once weight bearing. We will also observe the alignment of your Achilles tendon and assess the degree of movement at the ankle – sometimes called “medial bulge”.
We will use all the information we have gathered (history & observation) to decide whether you require a:
- Neutral shoe
- Mild stability shoe
- Moderate stability shoe
- Motion control / high stability shoe
We will then select the appropriate shoes based on the individual shape of your foot and the analysis we have done. Once we have assisted you to choose the most appropriate shoe, we will then explain to you the technical benefits of that shoe and why it is the most appropriate shoe for your individual requirements.
We wish you every success with your training and we look forward to welcoming you in store, seeing you in Caithness or meeting you on event day! Good luck!
